Infrared spectroscopy (IR)

The infrared spectroscopy is based on the absorption of infrared radiation by the chemical bonds of a molecule depending on the type of vibrations that they undergo. The frequency and intensity of the absorption depend on the type of binding and vibration. For an exact identification, the spectrum of the sample must match the reference materials of known composition.
