Authentication by the study of the nature of the materials present in the object. Technique allowing the analysis of the composition of the materials
This spectrometry is a technique of non destructive analysis which allows to determine the elementary composition of an object or of a sample made of inorganic materials. The method consists in exciting the atoms of the elements to be identified and dosed so that, when they return to their stable state, they do emit a distinctive radiation. The Brussels Art Laboratory is using the XRF in order to detect the elementary composition of certain pigments present in old and modern paintings.
